Karen BaskinMeet the owner and the therapist:

Karen L. Baskin MA, HHP

Based on personal experience, Karen understands the challenges facing clients with pain and disability.  As a young child, Karen was diagnosed with a devastating growth plate disorder (Osgood-Schlatter). For much of her childhood, Karen experienced debilitating pain and wore plaster casts on both legs. Despite this disabling condition and while wearing double knee braces, Karen played competitive soccer, semi-pro, and pro softball as a teenager and later attended college on a double sports scholarship.  While pursuing her collegiate education, Karen suffered with advanced cases of  Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis Diseases .

These childhood and teen challenges shaped Karen’s passion to help others live pain and injury free.

Karen Baskin earned her Masters’ Degree in Adaptive Physical Education and Sports Management from the prestigious New York University and the highest level of massage and bodywork certification as a Holistic Health Practitioner (HHP) earned at the International Professional School of Bodywork.  Karen also holds advanced certifications in ergonomics, biomechanics, postural therapy and pet massage. Throughout her years of practice since 1989, Karen has helped thousands of clients with:

  • sports injury care
  • pre  and post-rehabilitation soft tissue therapies
  • pre and post natal massage
  • analysis of gait and postural deviations
  • creation of therapeutic exercise routines
  • ergonomic and biomechanical consultations in the home and workplace

An expert in a variety of bodywork techniques, Karen blends neuromuscular therapy, myofascial release, and trigger point therapy to relieve pain and dysfunction. Clients report they experience relief from muscle spasms, greater blood and lymphatic circulation, increased range of motion in joints, enhanced flexibility, better balance and strength, and restored digestion.

“Thanks to Karen Baskin, I am an aging baby boomer who continues to enjoy a very active life style of hiking, Zumba and large scale gardening projects. Karen’s expert knowledge of body mechanics has been the key to helping me correct lifelong movement “bad habits” that led to a myriad of injuries over the years. Karen’s hands-on therapeutic deep tissue manipulation resolved a series of hip, knee and foot problems (problems that my doctor has virtually dismissed as a fact of aging). Plus, Karen recognized and corrected postural problems so I can avoid developing those painful conditions in the future.” Susan Nichols
